Compucare Showcased at Private Healthcare Summit 2023
On 17th May, LaingBuisson held the 10th annual Private Healthcare Summit in London, which we have exhibited at for many years.
The event, held at the QEII Centre in Westminster, welcomed hundreds of healthcare professionals through the doors and hosted several insightful talks on the current and future climate of the private health sector throughout the day.
The Future of Private Healthcare
Topics covered at the event focused on ‘navigating the future’ in healthcare. The day kicked off with Anita Charlesworth, from The Health Foundation, sharing statistics and insights into public view on the NHS, government funding into healthcare, and how private hospitals can continue to grow despite economic turmoil in the UK.
Other ways a recession can be navigated include tackling healthcare workforce issues and marketing your organisation effectively, both of which were covered as topics on the day.
Further Growth in Self-Pay Patients
Fiona Booth from Healthcode also shared insights on current healthcare figures, telling us that the ‘medium spend for private patients per treatment is now at £500 per patient’. This suggests the public is turning to private health for more inexpensive procedures and encouraged hospitals to drill into self-pay opportunities.
Further evidence of growth in the self-pay sector came when Fiona shared how the number of online payments for treatments has more than doubled since 2020. This figure supports our efforts in producing a comprehensive online bookings feature in the Compucare Patient Portal!
Finding the Value in Healthcare
The day featured numerous conversations around ‘value-based healthcare’, including a presentation from Josh Snowden-Bahr from Cleveland Clinic, which has recently opened hospitals in the UK.
Value-Based Healthcare, popular in America, draws on the theory of giving patients value beyond offering a competitive price within their healthcare experience to help private hospitals stand out from the crowd. This was a popular topic and generated unanimous agreement that hospitals can benefit from this model in the UK.
A Digital Revolution Created By The Humans
We also heard from a range of health tech professionals who promoted the ‘digital revolution’ and discussed ways in which AI can be used to transform healthcare. During the panel talk, Georgiana Badea from the London Clinic reminded us that it’s the people behind the technology that really create successful implementations and important to have a good team working alongside you on digitising hospital processes.
Of course, we were all there with our main goal of networking amongst new and potential customers. And we did plenty of that between the talks – thank you to everyone who spoke with the team on the day.
A successful visit to London in conclusion and we look forward to our return for Streets Heaver’s very own client event, the Compucare User Group, in the coming months.
